Educational institutions deal with children and young people of very different ages. Different approaches are needed for preschool children, lower primary school students, teenagers, secondary school students, or young adults.

Children are not “small adults”: their airways are narrower, their condition can change more quickly, their thermoregulation is more sensitive, and symptoms may appear differently depending on age.

The training materials also treat age-specific characteristics as a separate topic, emphasizing that first aid must always be adapted to the child’s age and developmental level.

Therefore, one of the strengths of our training is that we process key first aid situations adapted to the specific age group of the institution.

In kindergarten settings, it is especially important that staff respond according to the characteristics of preschool-aged children.

In this age group, key areas include:

• recognition of choking and airway obstruction,
• airway foreign body management,
• recognition of febrile seizures and convulsions,
• unconsciousness and breathing assessment,
• basic child resuscitation,
• recognition of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis,
• basic principles of using an EpiPen / adrenaline auto-injector,
• first aid for burns, scalds, falls, and head injuries.

During the training, kindergarten staff do not receive general adult first aid, but an approach that takes into account the age-specific characteristics, vulnerability, and institutional environment of preschool children.

In primary school environments, accidents such as playground injuries, sports injuries, falls, head injuries, fainting, allergic reactions, asthma attacks, choking situations, or seizures may occur.

The training covers, among others:

• first aid for childhood injuries,
• recognition of injuries, bleeding, bruises, and suspected fractures,
• recognition of unconsciousness,
• recovery position,
• basic child resuscitation,
• choking situations,
• seizures,
• allergic reactions,
• first aid for asthma attacks,
• and emergency calling and institutional response coordination.

In secondary school and dormitory environments, students are more independent, but emergencies can still occur unexpectedly: fainting, blood sugar drops, panic situations, allergic reactions, asthma attacks, sports injuries, seizures, chest pain, or even resuscitation situations.

Key focus areas include:

• recognition of sudden illness,
• proper emergency calling procedure,
• involving students and staff in assistance,
• management of unconscious but breathing patients,
• resuscitation and AED use,
• recognition of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis,
• reducing panic in institutional settings.

In higher education settings, the training prepares staff for emergencies involving young adults, lecturers, staff, and institutional communities. In lecture halls, dormitories, sports facilities, or events, sudden illness, fainting, injury, allergic reactions, or cardiac arrest may occur.

The aim is that staff can recognize the situation, call for help, begin first aid, and use an AED if necessary.

Most people do not fail to help because they do not want to, but because they are afraid of making a mistake. However, the biggest mistake is doing nothing. Our training aims to turn this uncertainty into confident, practical knowledge.

Accidents and emergencies in educational institutions often happen unexpectedly. A child or student may choke, fall, get injured, have an allergic reaction, experience a seizure, asthma attack, lose consciousness, or even require resuscitation.

Child safety is not solely the responsibility of healthcare professionals. The training is based on the understanding that teachers and school staff may encounter situations where timely and correct first aid can save lives or prevent permanent damage.

Most teachers want to help, but in emergencies uncertainty is often the biggest obstacle.

• What should be checked first?
• When should an ambulance be called?
• Is it safe to move the injured child?
• What should be done in case of unconsciousness?
• How is an AED used?
• What should be done in case of choking, allergic reaction, or seizure?

In educational environments, it is not only the technical steps of first aid that matter, but also how the situation is managed within the institution.

In a school or kindergarten emergency, attention must be given to:
